The province wide Broken Promises protest for forestry reform was an incredible success! 1300 people in 12 locations around BC came together to say enough is enough.

The Nelson protest saw at least 800 people in attendance including Dr. David Suzuki, Dr. Suzanne Simard, Dr. Rachel Holt, and forester Herb Hammond. Anecdotally, this appears to have been the biggest protest Nelson has ever seen.

Save What's Left Conservation Societies Joe Karthein addresses the crowd as David Suzuki and Suzanne Simard look on. The Broken Promises protest was initially dreamed up by Joe, and coordinated province wide in a collaboration between Nelson-based Save What's Left and Victoria-based Elders for Ancient Trees.
Rachel lays out exactly how the province is failing to protect our most at-risk old growth forests.
